just because a small bunch of people do cheat doesn't make the rest of us cheaters. it's not totally impossible to get a 4.0 and not cheat.

i really get tired that people ask us, "did you cheat to get this grade(s)?"

The moral rule for such situations is very, very simple; if the student's actions pose a threat or hindrance to your own welfare, then immediately inform the proper authorities. If they don't, simply keep quiet, and realize that the idiot will probably be caught anyhow.

In this case, inform the administrators only if you believe this kid's essay will get him into an elite institution you yourself are interested in applying to.

i believe in the eye for an eye policy.. plaguarize his older brother's college paper.. JK

anyways since there is a personal attachment to this situation, i actually recommend talking to ur guidance counselor(or teacher). You confronted him and rather than saying, "Yeah, I plaguarized" and being upfront about it, he sounded like he was trying to defend himsefl by saying 'well, i wrote most of it and im not using it for colleges'. he sounds like hes making an excuse for what hes about to do. i think it would be a disrespect to your brother to let this pass.
