Can someone explain the primary differences between Plan I and Plan II? If you start out in Plan II can you later switch to Plan I and vice versa. Are the admission requirements significantly different between the two?

I've never heard of "Plan I". Are you sure there is such a thing? Plan II was the original honors program, as in an alternative to being a regular student. There are now several honors programs, but I'm not aware that any of the others are called "Plan-anything".

'Some of the others have probably explained it better already, but the basic difference is that Plan II is a major with its own curriculum, whereas Plan I simply allows Liberal Arts majors to take honors sections and to graduate with honors upon meeting certain requirements.'

Not to be arrogant or anything, but Plan II is generally considered more prestigeous than any of the honors programs at UT. Plan II is a major in itself and many students choose to do a double major along with it. Plan II DOES require students to take math and science classes as well (the physics class is regarded as one of the most difficult classes in the major). Personally, I find the literature classes to be a strain as they require quite a bit of reading and essay writing. If you want a interdesciplinary education with 60 hours of classes planned out for you, apply to Plan II. If you hate any math and science, apply to Plan I and only take liberal arts classes.

Hope this helped. Sorry about the bit of bias.
