Plan II *and* LAH. What to do D:

I got both my acceptances at the same time. Plan II was dated in late January but I only got it recently because for some reason it didn't get mailed.

I've wanted to be Plan II since sophomore year, and never heard of LAH until this year. I applied to both because I was nearly certain I couldn't get into Plan II (their admission can be admittedly random) but I felt like a had the teeniest chance of LAH (more stats driven, and mine seemed to match).

Now it's a question of AP/IB credits being useful/having time in college. If I do LAH, I can double major in Psych and Business (I got into McCombs as well). If I do Plan II, I'd have to triple major, which sounds unfun :( and barely manageable.

It's just that I've been in love with Plan II for so long it feels foolish of me to give it up for LAH, which is just as great and WAY more flexible.

Any advice? I'd really appreciate help from yall :)

(I want to be in jury selection when I graduate; thus, psych degree is necessary.)

I’m an incoming freshman, but I would say do Plan II because of its greater flexibility. They expect double majors and the occasional triple major so I think if you plan well enough, you could finish in four years. But I can’t speak from experience.

I think there’s been a misunderstanding. Plan II is known as the one with much less flexibility, lol. But thanks.

Congratulations on McCombs too. If you are interested in the double major in business and psych, LAH fits the ticket. LAH is also very nice for allowing you to USE the AP credits UT accepts. (I like LAH for people with plans on study abroad and specific ideas on what they want to major in. I also really like the way LAH lets you use your AP credits.)

If you plan on staying in Texas, Plan II is very prestigious. You might consider a double major in psych and Plan II. You could save the business idea for your MBA.
(I think grad school is in your future.) Your fellow honors students would be very surprised if you chose LAH over UT.

Maybe talk to Larry Carver at LAH? He is certainly used to the idea of students accepted to both and having to choose.

LAH would be to-go except I’ve been in love with Plan II for so long x__x It’s like considering leaving your fiance for a random guy you met at a cafe, one week before you get married hahaha.

And nationwide, isn’t Plan II among the most prestigious honors programs? I know it’s more prestigious than LAH (for now at least), and I absolutely hate sounding like some elitist freak that only cares about name because I’m not, but it’s still an undeniable (if small) factor.</p>

And yeah, grad school is DEFINITELY in my future. And according to a student I’ve asked, few people would prefer LAH over Plan II. It’s just looking incredibly tempting now, especially with the fact that essentially all my AP/IB scores are pointless.

Edit: Oh, and thank you! Your input is greatly appreciated   :)

actually you wouldn’t be able to do LAH and business together, it’s very strongly discouraged if not totally out of the question. I read this somewhere on the LAH website lol. Plan II has MUCH greater flexibility

Many LAH students may pursue multiple majors in the College of Liberal Arts, but LAH strongly discourages dual-degrees with the Red McCombs School of Business or the College of Communication. LAH does share some majors with the College of Engineering, the College of Fine Arts and the College of Natural Science.

Ummmmm… no misunderstanding. Plan II has a whole lot of flexibility as I said because they expect that a large majority will double major. As I have already noted and what you should research on, LAH is meant for liberal arts student, meaning they are the ones that want to do be in the liberal arts and that requires a commitment.

So yeah lol you’re welcome. I don’t mean to be sassy but you should def look around and research to really make a better decision. We can only help you so much here!

Daaaang I did not know that redhotsrock! Wow okay thank you. haha well then it’s absolutely certain, LAH is no longer an option for me. Plan II it is! I’m sticking with my fiance lol :)

ohh and you too WakeUp  it’s just that LAH is always marketed as the “more flexible one” lol, I never realized the thing about McCombs.
