You can go online and order a copy. I believe fall admits get one publication free. On your BeALonghorn page, the last item on the far left will eventually lead you to…

Who here is doing to majors and have you had trouble making a schedule to accommodate both? I feel so lost. :(

In case you guys are interested, the Plan II website has been updated to include the “May mailing” including the course descriptions + professors for World Lit and First Year Seminar courses, the Voltaire Coffees etc.

I actually think I’m going to triple major (Plan II, Economics, Psychology) pretty easily. That being said, I know it’s really hard to major in something not in the College of Liberal Arts. What do you want to major in?

Oh sweet, tim! I’m doing Plan II, Business Administration, Psych so it’s mildly similar? haha I hear it’s really tough and we’re going to go through a period of disillusionment but I’m still happy and generally excited for what’s to come.

Is anyone here going to the Reading Round-Up?

I chose the book “Six Degrees: The Science of a Connected Age”
by Duncan J Watts

What did you do to get into Plan II?

he had good grades, and great essays

i didnt know their was a business administration degree?

Hi r0kAng3l,

pierrechn has it essentially right. If you’re about to apply, there’s not THAT much you can do about your grades but remember that a great essay can redeem an otherwise lackluster application. I’ve known people who were outside the top ten % and got in with a great essay and I’ve even known people who had an SAT of about 1900 and outside the top ten % and got in with a great essay. Essays really matter for Plan II! Be creative!

Okay, my GPA was still good but on a severe downward trend (finished with top 7%). But I really maxed out my essays and personal statement. Concentrate on those! And plus my extracurriculars were pretty clear on what my passions were  They care about you as a creative, thinking individual more than a grade-grubber (thank. god.)

Being worldly is also key
You have to have more to your life than school…and it shows if you fake it.
So be sincere…be more than simply a student.

Would a decent SAT or ACT score hurt you? (Say about a 28/29 ACT)?

That score is definitely in range r0kAng3l and you could definitely be accepted with that score. However, if you want the score to actually help you (rather than neither helping nor hurting) then I would retake it this fall.

Personally, I would retake it. Like tim739 said, it’s better for things to help you and not be simply neutral. Good luck :)

A good level to aim for is a 32+…that’s what my teacher told me, so if you fall a little less than it’s okay since it’s still good :)

Orientation this week for moi :D

So I’m a bit confused on orientation…if you guys got accepted into another major, do we go to both orientations? (for example, go to engineering and then plan ii?) how does this work?

Well for mine, I went to the Plan II one on the second day and then I went to the McCombs “college meeting” later that day :D

For the college meeting, you go to whichever college is on your badge…it’ll make more sense when you get there :)

Be sure to take your yearbook pictures too!

And oh yeah, if you sent AP scores, it doesn’t hurt to take the document college board sent you to confirm that the scores have been received…I had some misunderstandings with mine but since I had my documents, everything was sorted out before it got bad :)
