Plan II Double Major (Computer Science) Questions

Hi, I was just accepted to Plan II (Woohoo!) but I am also going into Computer Science. I applied to Turing Scholars(honors CS program at UT) and am still waiting to hear back from them. I know that Computer Science is normally very stressful with its heavy workload, etc. I am definitely going to aim for graduating in 4 or less years, interning in junior/senior years, and getting high GPA (hopefully 4.0). My main focus is definitely Computer Science but I am also very interested in social sciences (especially Psychology) and humanities/world history. I hope to enter Plan II but if it will hinder my CS studies too much then I may reject the offer.

Questions:

  • How well will the Plan II curriculum fit with the CS curriculum?
  • How many required courses are there for Plan II and how many can I get credit for with AP/SATII scores?
  • Do I graduate with both Computer Science and Plan II as my major?
  • How do Plan II freshman-senior year courses differ from regular or college-specific honors courses?

Thanks for all the help!

Keep doing your research. Contact Plan II with your concerns and goals. Ask to visit for a shadow day and even an accepted student overnight visit. Have them set you up to shadow a student that is in Plan II and CS or the closest combination to your goal. I suspect that student will be able to introduce you to other Plan II students that are double, dual or triple majors even. Don’t rule out an extra semester or year to complete.

@lots2do‌ Thanks! I emailed the director and a student ambassador. They gave me some helpful insights. The student ambassador is a Dean Scholar/Turing Scholar/Plan II Computer Science major graduating in 4 years, so seems like it is not completely impossible haha.

@fairyfantasy‌, excellent! I am.glad that you reached out. Congratulations on all your accomplishments!
