So I noticed there wasn’t a thread specific to these two honors programs, and decisions are “supposed” to (according to previous threads) start rolling out next week! So post stats and decisions once you get yours and good luck
Really, they’re supposed to come out next week!? How does that work, is it whoever submitted first? Or is it best candidates first?
@liberalguy97 In the past, some early decisions came out around Thanksgiving. Unless somehting has changed, it is not the first to submit. Usually, these early decisions are for the super strong candidates that might also be applying to EA schools (e…g Ivy’s) that UT wants to entice. EA decisions are Dec. 15th-ish so it makes sense to inform candidates.
It seems UT’s BHP students have already been getting acceptance calls Aghh…the anxiety…
Applied to LAH, yet to have any update on the mystatus page. Anyone else?
I heard back from the school last week about general admittance, but nothing yet from Plan II
Just a few more days til first wave of Plan II decisions. Last year, first ones arrived a day after Thanksgiving (November 28th 2014 was first reported letter) Good luck to all.
Are we going to find out through the mystatus portal?
@liberalguy97 Eventually mystatus will get updated, but a large envelope in your mailbox with Plan II stamped on it would be the first indication.
@psywar could you give me your opinion? I applied on October 22nd. I know I should not expect this too soon, and I’m not even sure i’d get in. I just want to know, does UT send one wave like now and one in late feb? or is it rolling? Meaning that I’d find out between now and feb and not necessarily when I find out about admissions to UT in feb, right? Also, do you get a notification if you don’t get accepted into Plan II or LAH?
@liberalguy97 I hate to say it, but since October 15th was early decision cut-off, I don’t think you’ll get an early notification, even if you are a strong candidate, see: http://www.utexas.edu/cola/plan2/admission/application/faq.php
If the past is any guide on how Plan II will operate this year, read these threads:
Good luck,

I got my Plan II acceptance today! Still waiting for Dean’s Scholars
@kennyg25 Yay, congrats!
DS told me that several Austin area applicants on the UT admitted freshman Facebook site have reported receiving LAH and Plan II acceptances in the mail today. Congratulations to all. We will be eagerly checking our on mailbox when we return from our mini-vacation to San Francisco.
My son is in plan 2 right now and in graduating class of 2018. He got his admission letter in a big brown envelope with course details on the 27th Nov 2013. He got his engg admission during first week of Dec, and his UT scholarship and engg Hons decision in March of 2014. It is about time to get the first wave (last week of Nov) and then in Dec and finally in Feb. I saw a reply from someone on the timing and it all depends on the strength of your application. My son applied exactly one week later for plan 2 (oct 22 2013), but still got his letter in the last week of Nov 2013. So there is not rule on the Oct 15th cutoff for plan 2. As i know, only BHP has a cutoff date of Oct 15th, the rest has a soft date. Now we are waiting on my D’s plan 2 and hope to see something in mail tomorrow. Hope this helps
Best of luck to all the Plan II applicants who are waiting to hear back! Do not stress if you are not accepted in the first batch. My son applied to UT as an auto-admit in Sept. of last year and applied to Plan II before the priority deadline. He did not receive his P2 acceptance until Feb. 27, 2015. He was one of the last people to receive it for that year. Just telling all of y’all to keep the hope alive, because you can apply very early and still not receive the big envelope until late February.
@rksugarland @collegefind Thank you both for the encouragement! Good luck to all Plan II applicants.
@kennyg25 did your MyStatus honors page get updated as well?
Not yet! The letter in the mail arrives before the status update.
Yep that’s how it’s been for the past years. Just making sure nothing has changed!
