Plan to Transfer (TAG) to UC Davis' Electrical Engineering--what to expect?

This year will be my last at Irvine Valley College (IVC). By the time I transfer, I will have completed all lower-division EEC coursework required for transfers EXCEPT Phys 9D (Modern Physics) and Engin 6 (Engineering Problem Solving). Furthermore, I will have completed two of the three required technical electives. The remaining elective, EEC 190, is required for my track (Communications and Controls) anyways.

A couple questions remain:

  1. According to plan, I will enter UC Davis Fall 2017. Given the above, will I be able to graduate in exactly six quarters, without summer session? Will I be able to graduate Spring 2019, and be able to attend graduate school Fall 2019?
  2. Is summer session more expensive than regular quarters? Would it actually make more financial sense to NOT attend any summer sessions, work internships instead, and graduate a quarter (or two) later?
  3. How hard is the English Composition Exam that places you out of upper-division writing? I got a '5' on the AP English Lit Exam and trained in high school to be an English major.
  4. Is registration tight for upper-division electrical engineering classes? What about registration for Engineering Problem Solving and Modern Physics? At IVC there can be as many as 50 petitioners for a single session of Engineering Physics; does that happen at Davis? What should I do to improve my registration priority?
