Plan to transfer to UCLA Fall 08 ~ Microbiology... What GPA do I need to get in?

<p>HEY hi!
My major is Microbiology, and I am planning to transfer to UCLA. I really want to get into UCLA. Right now my GPA is 3.68. Do you guys think I am able to get in?
I am so worry!
Can you guys who have transfered to UCLA tell me what you GPA is and what is your major.
Thanks!! :]</p>

<p>UCLA</a> Undergrad Admissions: Profile of Admitted Transfer Students by Major, Fall 2007</p>

<p>average gpa admitted was 3.68 for microbio transfers last year, which is coincidentally the very gpa you have now. With 45% admit rate, i think you have a fair chance of getting in.</p>

<p>Thank very very much. Your information really help.</p>

<p>Is there anyone want to say something about this major or other major is fine too!</p>

<p>I just transferred to UCLA this fall as the microbio/MIMG major. I haven't taken any upper div MIMG course yet, as I had to take the LS pre-reqs since they weren't offered at my school nor at any other local JC. (This is the case for a lot of bio-related transfers here ...so if you want to be on time to graduate you should clear both during summer school here)
Personally I don't really want to be in the major anymore...it claims it is more flexible than the other bio majors, but I don't really feel that is so. The upper div courses seem limited and I don't really feel interested in taking most of them. I'd like to switch but it's too late, as I do want to be done in 2 years, and the other majors I would like (physci/neuro) have courses that are in sequence and start in fall.
Just make sure you check out the upper div courses/reqs and make sure you really like the major.
Of course, since I am starting my upper div reqs next quarter maybe I'll change my mind after all...</p>

<p>Ohh and also, I transferred w/ a 3.35 I think? Kinda low...but this was due to personal hardships during my 1st year, I improved in fall 06, and I addressed it in my open-ended essay. I didn't have many extracurriculars, only 2 really, but they were both significant in teaching me something and I addressed each in their own essays. All 3 essays were really excellent, I think. Personally I think the essays were what got me into UCLA (and Berkeley), as I did not have a huge upward grade trend...then again since your GPA is based on only 3 semesters (5 if you include summer) when you apply, it's not like there's much room for improvement and they take that into consideration.</p>

<p>Thank you very much PPEACHYKEEN, I think I need to put more effort on my personal statement.
How do you start and end your personal statement?</p>
