I am starting to think I am bad luck. Last trip to Birmingham was when the sign fell on that poor family and now this. We arrive at noon today, assuming the airport is still open.

They just had a “Breaking News” story on this here in Dallas. Sad

They did say it happened outside the fenced area of the airport. Guess that is why the airport is operating normally. On the radar it appears there have been some rain storms in the area. Wonder if it is weather related. I’m assuming the area where it went down was not populated as no mention of on the ground damage or injuries.

It was coming from Lexington, KY, one of their main distribution points. Thinking this means could be some kiddos at move-in that shipped things for this weekend that may not have their stuff. Hope that they can “keep their cool” and realize their package may have gone down in this and 2 lives were taken, much worse than losing a package or two of things that can be replaced.

Hmmm, no, it was approach (landing) at B’ham. Some of the news reports can be confusing, when they say plane “which took off from Louisville, Kentucky” (which it did), but the actual crash was most definitely at B’ham on approach.

Just re-read the post above…yes, these are outbound shipments from the UPS hub in Kentucky. This is 1 of 2 planes a day into/out of B’ham by UPS.
