Is it possible for Cal to send plane tickets to accepted seniors, just so that they can visit the school? My parents insist that it's possible, but it sounds sketchy to me. Has anyone received a purchased plane ticket to Cal directly from Cal?

there're several recruitment programs aimed at bringing accepted seniors to what they call Senior Weekend. it's absolutely free-plane ticket included-and is an overnigh stay culminating on Cal Day, april 21st

u must receive an email invitation at ur myberkeleyapplication informing you of this opportunity--i don't know of any other way

btw, i got the email

IT GOES AS FOLLOWS

then u get to rsvp by following a link

yes it is, but they are limited to first-sign up first serve. last year, i did the overnight host program during senior weekend, which was like the 2nd to last weekend in april. i thought it was a fun experience. berkeley pays for your plane ticket, meals, everything. and i know that all the different ethnic groups do special programs like bridges, but even if you're white, you can still sign up. they just call your group "OHP" instead of reach or raza or anything like that. haha. as i recall, there was a link on your myberkeley app on the page that said you were accepted. it said something like "wanna visit berkeley for free" or something like that. but you might wanna sign up kinda quickly, cuz i think that space was limited.

I see no link on the acceptance page.

Ah, well I guess it would take less time for me to drive than it would to go to the airport and take a flight =P

I got the senior weekend thing and we are flying to berkeley on the 19th... I think you have to be in california while not in the san francisco area to receive a invitation... when I had to chose airport it had LAX, Ontario(10min away from my house :)) san diego and one other one that I can't recall.

oh, maybe that's it, i lived in socal near ontario airport too (though not 10 mins away). that's weird, i remember it as a link, but it's been a year so who knows.
