Plane tickets bought for Dallas!

Well we took the dive. We don’t have tickets to the game, but we’re going to Dallas! Flights were already going up in price and getting less and less to choose from. I was able to use capitalone miles to get DS to Dallas for free! WhooHoo! H and I will pay $300 a roundtrip ticket by leaving on Thursday before the game. Pretty good deal I think. ROLL TIDE!!

Now to look for game tics…

That’s the spirit. I booked a hotel months ago, don’t have tickets, and don’t have a flight yet. I’m hoping this guy in New Jersey can hook me up with some decent game tix this summer. Haven’t heard from him in awhile and, like casinoexec said in another thread, I hope he isn’t dead.

Now, if we can only get a flight for under a grand. Sheesh! I mean, Roll Tide!

Don’t forget to include Love Field in your flight search. Southwest flies there rather than DFW.

Malanai, that guy from Jersey is looking for tics for me also! Amazing what these “football experts” can do! Tider Insider folks are selling 2 tics for $600 right now. Hopefully, that price will come down a bit. What hotel did you book? Not sure if I should try to get close to the stadium or not. We’re going to have to get a rental car and someone said there was reasonable parking across from the stadium. Just hate to deal with the traffic…Good luck with your flight search! ROLL TIDE!!

I dont’ know how this works, but less Mich fans may be going, so is there a way to buy tix in their sections?

That may seem odd, but if they dont’ sell many, then there will be Bama fans in those seats.

Got a two bedroom suite @$142/night. We may need the space for 4-6 peeps.

Not a bad deal Malanai! We will have DS staying with us also. He also may be bringing a friend…

Do not feel limited in hotel options to just ‘Dallas’ as the stadium is almost equal distance between there and Fort Worth. ESPN had all the live show broadcasts the week of the game from Fort Worth a couple years ago when the Super Bowl was at Jerry World.

Do you know if the T goes all the way to the stadium?

I’m booked at the not so prestigious (though it does get solid reviews on tripadvisor) HOJO near the Stadium. I got it cheap back in September and it’s within easy walking distance.

bamafana, from what I read the shuttle in Arlington only goes as close as 6 flags (mile away) on game days. But the shuttle that stops at various hotels in Fort Worth takes you right to the stadium.

Casinoexec, so it might be better for us to stay at one of the hotels in Fort Worth where we could take the shuttle to the stadium. One more question…where can I find the hotels on the shuttle route? I’d like to book now, I feel like the prices will only go up!

Correct. Many people I know are staying in Fort Worth as there are a lot of entertainment and dining options and to take advantage of the shuttle to the stadium.

Click on this link and scroll to the bottom to see the map of the shuttle stops.

The hotel shuttle takes you to the Vickery Park & ride where you’d board the shuttle to Cowboys stadium.

As you guys have pretty much found out already, there is not much in the way of public transportation to Jerry World. Private services like the hotel shuttles are the closest options.

For what it is worth I agree with the comment regarding FW… there are lots of fun options both in Sundance Square and at the Stockyards. We head that way for a night out far more often than into Dallas. The Flying Saucer is highly recommended for a cold beverage.

Thanks guys as always!

These are all good tips. I seem to be waiting for Southwest’s fall airfare sale (which won’t be valid on Friday or Sundays, but fares will still be lower) or whenever airfare dropped as $330 roundtrip is too high.

casino, I was tempted to take they Greyhound to Dallas and stay in a Motel 6 if things got too expensive, but am looking for at least slightly more mid-range accommodations.

I’ve been monitoring Southwest every day for the last month waiting for them to have a sale or release their fares through Thanksgiving. I have my flight booked for Ole Miss weekend but am waiting on a sale to book for Dallas and am waiting for them to release their fares for auburn. Right now everything out of Philly to DWF or DAL is $500+ roundtrip.

That would be one hell of a bus ride. I haven’t looked but I assume there is no train that runs from Tuscaloosa to Dallas?

I’m actually pleased with my HOJO reservation in Arlington. I don’t require much of a hotel especially for game weekends. As long as it’s clean and safe I’m good to go. And by all reviews on tripadvisor it meets those criteria and then some. Plus the convenience to the stadium is a major attraction. I figure I can always get a cab out to the Fort Worth entertainment district if need be. I’ll have a rental car but don’t want to risk a DUI.

Depending on who goes I might possibly have either a spare bed or be able to get a rollaway for you if need be. If you don’t find anything reasonable send me a message later this summer as I should know who’s all going by then.

We stayed at the Sheraton right by Rangers stadium for opening weekend of this baseball season (DH was drafting his fantasy league baseball team…they do it in the home town of who won the league last year)…it was a great place. We went over to the football stadium and had a tour that was put together by one of the guys…he has several of the Dallas Cowboys as clients (he’s a sports attorney). It wasn’t very far…we walked…I would highly suggest it. We have rooms booked ($279 a night). DD and her sorority sisters as well as a host of fraternity guys are planning to caravan. All of the guys in his fantasy baseball league (9) are Michigan grads…and they have offered us tix…looks like we might be headed to Dallas.

For anyone travelling from the northeast, be sure to check JetBlue. The have round-trip prices from Boston to DFW for $320. That is a new route for them, so it’s priced right! Also looks like American is reducing their BOS-DFW fares to be competitive.

My Hojo is right next to that Sheraton, ahpimommy. I shall walk over and have a drink with you and husband in the lobby bar.

So I think I blew it. I was looking for flights. Found something for 250 rt on Delta. Just looked again and it’s up to 370. Ugh! Every time I check Southwest, it says the flights are unavailable. Do you think all the flights are already booked?
