@Rose - Southwest flies to/from Dallas Love Field, not DFW International Airport. Use the airport code DAL, instead of DFW.

I heard they will release their next booking period on June 4 (is that right, Beth’s Mom?).

Thanks for the tip. I was using the DAL code, though. I just tried it again to make sure. Funny thing is, if I put returning Monday, then flights show up as being available for Friday. If I put returning Sunday, then all the Friday flights show unavailable. We don’t have SW here, so I’m not familiar with how things work with them. But RT is pricing out at over $600!!! Dang, I really goofed on not jumping on that Delta flight.

If anyone comes across a good deal, please PM me!! I’m not sure I like the idea of my daughter driving all that way.

@ Rose - here is another suggestion: Try flights from Jackson, Mississippi to DFW on American. She’ll have to drive a little over 2 hours to the Jackson Airport, but that’s much better than the full 8+ hours to Dallas. We live in Dallas and have used Jackson as an alternative to Birmingham on several occasions.

Thank you, Wake!! I’ll check that out :)

Rose: the drive really isn’t too bad. I wouldn’t let her drive it by herself, but if she has at least 3 others, then each would only drive 3 hrs. Also, it’s a straight shot. We’ve always made it in 81/2 hrs (stopping at least twice).

Car rentals in Dallas over the weekend seem quite cheap. Just reserved a full size car with Hertz for $26.92/day with the AAA discount. A tiny economy car goes for $23.50/day. Go figure.

Just got a premium car for $22/day on name your price priceline.com! Was going to go with Malanai’s suggestion of hertz with AAA discount but thought I’d give priceline one try and it worked!

I don’t know why they don’t do buses. They know hundreds of students are going. Plus then they wouldn’t have to spring for hotels.
We have relatives in Shreveport, which I see from mapquest is a direct stop, but I think it’s 6 hours away from Dallas.

For those of you thinking of buying tickets to the 'Bama-Michigan game, here’s a good idea of the view from the nose bleed seats. Gotta say it looks better than I expected, especially with that gargantuan video screen as “backup.”

The kickoff time has now been set: 7pm Central Time. 'Bama will be the home team, Michigan the losing team.

“losing team” LOL!!! ROLL TIDE Malanai!

For those still looking for airfares, suggest using ITA Software Matrix Airfare Search at [Matrix - ITA Software](http://matrix.itasoftware.com/) to do what I call the “heavy lifting” or researching. You cannot book your ticket on this site but can book with the airline or an OTA (online travel agency). This site does not include Southwest Airlines so must search that separately. Suggest to expand your search by clicking on “nearby.”
Seeing Jackson MS fares for $260s, ATL fares for $240s with AA and DL; $188 with Spirit; BHM with AA for $316; BOS with DL $263 (Spirit less); HNL nonstop with AA $728. Hope this is helpful!

I don’t know why they don’t do buses

Well, I can think of a few reasons. One reason might be that they’re concerned that they’ll take XXX students, and yet when it’s time leave there will be less than XXX kids that show up…and then what to do? Some kids may find other ways home and not let the bus/school know. Some kids may get caught up in partying and not make it to the buses on time.

Thank you, kmwjes. I actually got a 1-stop RT from HNL with excellent connections for $649.00 on United. Now the wait to see if the game ticket prices come out of the stratosphere and make this gig doable.

Having gone to grad school at Michigan State I naturally loathe the wolverines (casinoexec, please note the proper spelling and my consistent reliance on the “reptilian” section of my brain for guidance in all matters concerning football).

I would love nothing more than to see the Tide put an elephant stomp on those little weasels.
