Plane tickets!

What day is everyone arriving in Philly? Orientation starts around the later 20’s of August yes?..

Also. . I need to start booking my winter tickets for 2006…and hence I was wondering - (this question is particularly targeted at current Penn students) - what day do most people leave for Christmas holidays?

The Alamanc says 1st term ends 20 Dec, and classes resume 8 Jan. Do most people leave the day immediately following the end of term or are there a lot of hectic end-of-term procedures that need to be followed up on prior to leave?

Good question. Are there maybe some really good events such as parties or whatever at the end of term which would make it better to leave on the 21st or 22nd?

I'm starting to look at booking my plane tickets for this summer. Orientation starts on August 31st for Freshman (I believe there is early move in on the 30th). NSO starts on August 31st, I believe.

I didn't know you could book up to eight months in advance.

You should be able to make your plans based on your final exams. I'd say people leave when their exams are done.

Not 8 months in advance, but its better to buy a return ticket for me cuz Im comming from Europe. So ill go to penn end of August and need to know when the return flight (december) will be exactly.

Does anyone know when Early Move-in date is?

**Early Move-In

Questions about Early Move-In? Please call (215) 898-3547, or email us at movein@pobox.upenn.edu .

Undergraduate Student Early Move-In:
Early Move-In for fall room assignments begins at 2 pm on Sunday, August 28. First-year students are encouraged to arrive no earlier than Wednesday, August 31. A nightly fee will be charged for any student who moves in early. The fee is calculated as a prorated portion of the term's rent for the room, which is estimated to be between $21 and $30 per night. Students who move in early should be aware that full residential services will not be available before Thursday, September 1, and there may be few, if any, other residents on the floor or in the building. Early move-in charges will appear on your Student Financial Services bill some time around October.

Early Move In support will be limited due to the small number of staff and volunteers available. Cart loans, traffic and unloading support will be provided, but at a reduced level from that normally associated with official move in and move out operations

Thanks! but i think that's last year's though.. 28th is a Monday :p i shall email them.

as far as move out for winter...i moved out on the friday at the end of hte first week of finals...for winter break, most ppl i knew left as soon as their finals were over (mine ended at 5 that evening and i was out by 3 the next morning)...for summer, though, it's a different story, and just about everyone i know tried to stay as long as they could

that's the one thing that sucks about penn...winter break is only 2 weeks, so everyone tries to prolong it as much as they can

you guys are lucky.. you're flying. my parents insist upon driving. FLA to PA... thats like 18 hours of driving i think. :(

I think I read somewhere that they are making winter break longer the year after next.

hey upenn_rocks, from where in europe r u from?

Really? A longer winter break would rock, especially for international students!
