<p>Just saw it in the paper today... Rutgers wants to combine Rutgers, Douglass, Cook, and Livingston into one college called the Rutgers College of Arts and Science. Students would apply to this new school and then get to pick where to live.
The reason they gave for the change is that Rutgers College has better students and facilities than the other three. By combining them, they would make things more "fair". Livingston is much less selective and if you add all those students you're just going to lower the quality of the university as a whole. I really hope this plan gets voted down.</p>
<p>I originally was in the "well, as long as they leave Douglass alone, it's a good thing" camp, but now I'm starting to realize how bad this plan is all around. Why should Rutgers College students be put at the same level as Livingston College students? It makes no sense. I just don't get it.</p>
