Planning freshman college schedule

I am hoping to go pre-med, possibly majoring in economics. I am under the assumption that you need not major in Biology to go to medical school. As long as you fulfill your pre-med requirements and do well, you're fine. Well here is my schedule thus far:
General Chemistry I w/ lab MWF (4credits)
French I MWF (4credits)
Calculus I MWF (4credits)
Introduction to Economics MWF (4credits)
First Year Seminar TTH (2credits)
Is this doable? This comes out to 18 credits. I talked to someone and they suggested that as a freshman I should drop one of the classes. 18 credits is too much to handle freshman year. Also I plan on running division 3 cross country, but practice is in the morning at 6:30 and the meets are on Saturdays. Any opinions?

Some things to consider:

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/pre-med-topics/1331981-new-pre-med-students.html

OP, what was your last year (or two) in high school like? I took 18 credits my first year in college but that was after taking 6 AP classes, a music tech course, band(s), and private piano lessons(w/competitions and end of year jury) my last year in high school. After that, 18 credits was a breeze

However, if you are not used to the demands of a very busy schedule, be careful. Start slower and add a class the following term if you wish.

Entomom- Thanks for the good read! Definetly makes me reconsider because I forgot to mention I am going out of state as well! I need time to adjust to life itself haha

Plumazol- I took 4 APs my senior year, two of them being lab sciences (Biology and Chemistry). It was alright but definetly would not recommend it to any senior. Senioritis is real and it sucks. I also ran cross country and track. So final verdict? I think I’m gonna drop a class and enjoy my fall. Thanks guys :D

Did you take AP Calc? Does your college give credits for that?

I feel like you should drop French. I am assuming you need Intro to Econ and Calc for your econ major. Language classes in college tend to take up a lot of time and you don’t know how hard your Gen Chem is going to be with the curve and all of pre meds in your class. From my personal experience, college Gen Chem was pretty difficult (even though I already took AP Chem and it was supposed to cover the same material).
