Other than making my final decision on UCSD, UCSC, or UCSB, I'm set to transfer! I'm almost set on UCSD but am continuing to do research on each college to make the right decision for me and my future as well...

Anyhow, I've visited UCSD and loved it, the only thing is I dont like the lack of social activities going on on campus. At other colleges, like Cal Poly, there is always something going on... from people staying at Poly canyon out and about playing soccer and whatnot in between housing to people playing pick up basketball and water polo games in the community pool...

What I want to know is about the social life on campus, and if there is actually more going on than what appeared to be. Give me some example of activities day to day and special events?

Also, Ill be a transfer student and I am deciding on either living in transfer student housing or in my college's housing (which would be Muir or Warren) Inputs on social climate in transfer housing from transfer students? As well, Muir / Warren students?

There’s always people playing basketball at UCSD. I’ve seen people playing soccer, I don’t know about water polo, but I’m guessing it happens. There probably is less people doing things at UCSD than other schools, but I promise you, if you actually try, you will find people to do any activity you want to do.

Actually, your options to live are transfer housing or off campus housing. they don’t let 3rd/4th years live on campus in their college’s housing

in terms of social life, join clubs (ultimate frisbee, lacrosse, or non sport clubs), IM sports, etc, get involved. its up to you. if you are really worried about partying rush a frat.

well wherever I go Im actually joining the lacrosse team so thats a start. Im not a super heavy party-er anyways, I just dont want to go somewhere “boring” if you know what I mean. I want options, and occasional fun stuff to do.

As for a frat… I dont know if Im too much of a frat kinda guy.
Thanks for the responses though. From the sound of it if I go here I just need to join multiple clubs and stay active. College is what you make it right?

^That’s exactly right - and if you join the lacrosse team you’ll be fine, athletes all have parties together and you’ll meet a lot of people that way.

Sweet! I have been so set on UCSD but having some worries about the social aspect, this kinda calms my nerves about it. I just know that if Im going to pay out my @ss for a UC that I want to enjoy it, in all aspects.
