we are going from NY(home) to Philadelphia for a ball game and would like to see a few colleges incorporated into our trip.

My s wants a rural school, SAT ranges between 1200-1300 or so( that is a guess he is still a rising jr but that is what we estimate his score will be)

Can you suggest college campuses ( a liberal arts traditional type)enroute from NYC to Philadelphia and w/in an hours ride in a radius of Philly(that is where we will be staying.)

we are open to small colleges too that accept a score lower than 1200(just in case)

have looked at these websites: Bucknell, Moravian,Lafayette,LeHigh,Muhlenberg,Susquehanna,Gettysburgh, Dickinson.

We only have the afternoon on ride down to see something between NY and Philly( will take rt 95 so anything off that would be great)

And then we will have one full day and eve to see any college in a rural area not too far from philadelphia would like to see more than one if possible.

Any ideas? Can you help us to find a few colleges to see on this trip w/o us driving too far out of the way? Any route that would take us from Philadelphia back to nyc is fine if it includes a great school you reccomend.
Thanks

Can you suggest somesightseeing for a mom to do in Philadelphia in the eve by myself? ( while they are at the game) I know I could just walk around but what would be interesting to see in a safe area for me to get around by myself at night?

Downtown (or Center City) Phila is a wonderful walking town- if you like historic neighborhoods, buildings etc. Suggest walking around Society Hill and the Rittenhouse areas. Not sure if the museums have late nights during the summer- the Art Museum is outstanding. Lots of street activity during the summer- outdoor dining etc. This is NOT NYC- the city goes to bed about 11. Do not venture into North Phila- stick to Center City.

if you pass by jim thorpe you must stop and walk around the town. it is so pretty! and the lehigh river runs through it which is a great white water river with a rails to trails bike path along it. super nice!

While Bucknell may fit you school criteria the best, it is in no way en route from NYC to Phila. Lafeyette would probably be the easiest to fit in. Might want to consider Franklin & Marshall with the south central PA Gettysburg and Dickinson contingent.

Lehigh/Muhlenberg are close to Lafayette-might be a nice drive home to see all 3 on Sunday. Villanova isn't rural, but suburban campus is only 20 min's from CC Philly. Agree with previous comment, Bucknell, Gettysburg, Dickinson, F&M, etc are really not convenient for you on this trip.
