Planning to Minor in CompSci, Chem Placement Test Necessary?

The Welcome to USC booklet says that I'd have to take a placement test in Chemistry if I major in CompSci. However, I only plan to minor in CompSci. Do I still have to take this test? (Same goes with the Physics and Foreign Language Placement test, each of which is required for a CompSci major)

I am majoring in business, which requires none of the three tests.

Don't quote me on this, but you only need to take placement exams for courses that you're required to take for your major/minor.

Since neither your major nor minor require physics, chem, or language, you prob. don't have to take them.

For comp sci, you only have to take one science. you can choose either chem, physics, or biology. If you choose chem or physics, then you'll have to take their respective placement test. However, if you major in CECS (Computer engineering and Computer science), then you have to take physics.

And you also have to take foreign language, unless you major in CECS.

Even if I'm just minoring in CS? :(

(Apologies if I'm being repetitive, but I got the impression that you might have posted with the belief that I'm majoring in CS.)

Nevertheless, thanks for your answers. :)

Ohhhhh, whoops. I read it wrong :o.... my bad Then ignore my last comments

lol, for a minute I was wondering why jbusc had said you wouldn't need any tests! didn't see the business major part, yikes!

...and that is what lack of sleep does to us :)

^ lol, hahahahaha :)
