Hello, I narrowed my college choices to MIT and Princeton. I plan to study both math and computer science (with math being a minor/for certification). I visited both campuses and love both of them, even though they have very different cultures.

It is hard trying to pick between the two, since I feel "at home" at both institutions, so the only things I can think of when trying to pick are location (prefer a city area but Princeton is nearby) and financial aid (Princeton gave me a full ride). Any suggestions to help me through this process?

It seems as though you are aware that there’s nothing you’ll hear here that will enlighten you so much as to make the decision clear. Princeton and MIT are both excellent schools for mathematics and computer science. Any differences in departmental strength (MIT has the edge in computer science) between the schools are minor at the graduate level and negligible at the undergraduate level.

How expensive is MIT? How strong is your preference for a city environment?

If MIT isn’t significantly more expensive, either choice is sensible; just go with whatever your subjective sense is pulling you toward. If Princeton’s aid is much better, however, Princeton seems to be the superior option for you.

You have two solid choices, so things will work out either way. Best of luck.
