Hey my name is john, I'm 17 and am looking to go into college soon, I should be graduating HS with a 3.5 gpa, Leader of the schools most successful after school program "B.E.S.T." Ive been apart of student gov for 2 years. scholars bowl 2 years. Co-founder of a non-profit org. that helps build things that help the elderly. 30 act, I want a 32. Now a few questions. I want to go for two degree's, a business degree and an engineering degree. I would want to attend an Ivy league school, can I get in? also would it be easier to go to a lesser college and then transfer into an Ivy?

Transferring into an Ivy is as hard as getting into one initially or harder (some Ivies don’t take transfers). Your stats would make most Ivies a reach. Why the Ivies? What about them excites you? What can your family afford?

Money is not an issue at all, I was looking into MIT or Stanford. I like the idea of them and the kind of people they attract, and I would love to be apart of that.

Getting in as a transfer student is much more difficult than getting in as a freshman.

Your stats aren’t quite where most people that get accepted are, but the only way you can’t get in is if you don’t apply. Find a few safeties you’d be very happy to attend.

what engineering field or business specialty do you want to do? you may want to go to a community college for degree searching and to ease the transition from high school to a big league. I dual enrolled for 2 years at a community college before transferring to Michigan. at first i wanted to be a doctor but later decided computer science fit my personality more. also, if you went the community college route, your HS resume would be void. you would cease to be an incoming freshman and instead would be classified as a transfer student. transfer students are admitted to school based on their accomplishments at their junior college.

^ OP, you need to check the Common Data Set for an accurate answer. Using Yale as an example http://www.yale.edu/oir/cds.pdf, look at section D. They accepted 34 out of 706 applicants and the HS transcript and standardized test scores are required of all transfer applicants.
