So I have my freshman year completed at Northern Arizona University with a cumulative GPA of around 3.3

I am a genera business major and am trying to figure out what I want to do as a career and if not going to an ivy or very well known d-1a school is going to limit me.

I am thinking of transerring to University of Oregon as a junior and finishing up school there.

I'm looking into accounting right now but wondering if it is as bad as people really say.

Should an MBA be a must if i want to be successful?
Thanks

Don't even worry about whether or not to do an MBA now. If you have any sense, you won't do one until you've been out working several years, and so you can think about whether it is worth it for you to get one at that time.

I'm not sure U of O is much better, but for accounting, it often doesn't matter. However, see if you can't transfer into U of Illinois. Their accounting program is #1 in the nation - ahead of Wharton.

I'm not set on accounting, i might look into finance or marketing.

DO you think as long as i have good ec's, 3.5+ gpa cumulative and intern over summer and stay involved i still have a chance of being succesful.
I know i don't have to go ivy league to be succesful and that as long as i work my ass of it will all pay off in the end.

U actually should be fine with a degree from Northern under those conditions. If you look at the list of where all the Fortune 500 CEOs went to school, you'll see alot of them went to state schools with no rep - like Northern A. Now you're not going to be able to get jobs in elite finance fields - investment banking - but really, IB isn't that great anyways.

However, if you realy want to transfer, since you're not set on accounting I would say go to Indiana - where I'll be next year. Their reputation is top notch - it's ranked 10th by Business Week, and it's pretty easy to get into.
