So I'm applying early decision to major in Plant Science (through CALS, not CAS) and I'm just wondering what luck people have had in this area, how competitive it is, what the admissions board expects, etc. Advice from current plant science majors/alumni would be great.

FYI, I would say I'm a pretty good student. I think my scores are good enough where if they like my essays, ec's and recommendations I would get in, but that they aren't uber good to the point where they would accept me just based on them. This may or may not be helpful:

CR: 730
Math: 710 (I know, a little low)
Writing: 780 (though i know this is irrelevant since they don't look at this section)

AP's completed: Physics B- 5, English Language- 5, French Language- 4, Chem- 5, American- 5

AP's taking this year: Gov, BC Calc, Stat, Bio

Sat II's: 720 on both Physics and Math I

Rank: Not absolutely positive but I think around #9 in a class of about 740. Definitely in the top ten though.

GPA: 103 weighted. Not sure but I think around a 95 or 96 unweighted.

I'm also a National Merit Scholar Semi-finalist (and most likely will be a Finalist) and an AP Scholar with Distinction. My EC's include Garden Club of which I am the Treasurer, Science Olympiad, Habitat for Humanity, National Math honor society, National science honor society, national honor society, and girl scouts.

I don't have any sort of legacy and I'm not a minority.
