I'm from Arizona and I play soccer. I've talked to the men's soccer coach and he wants me to play for the team. Granted I am accepted (hopefully i am), is it possible to play sports and still maintain a good academic standing?

Absolutely. Many of the students do so.

My son's dream is to go to CalTech, and a subset of that is to play on the Basketball team. :)

Maybe your son will be the one to finally get them that conference win!

Caltech isn't exactly known for its sports, so I assume the program wouldn't be that intense. You can handle it.

Caltech actually is known for its sports. How many basketball teams have had a documentary made about them, and how may D3 teams are semi-regularly mentioned in SI (albeit for new milestones of losing).

The soccer team had a pretty dismal season. They only won one game :(. I could not imagine life with out soccer tho.

What I meant was that it's not known for its athletic prowess. I'm assuming you knew that already :P

I play soccer for the team. I had a lot of fun playing soccer my frosh year, and it was a great way to get acclimated to Tech before school started. It's totally doable to play soccer and maintain a good academic standing, especially since half the soccer season is before school even starts (our season runs from late August to the last week of October, the past schedules should still be online). We even had a huge upset win over Cal Lutheran this year. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask or PM me.

if i attend, im looking to play basketball
