I am a high school junior, and a competitive squash player. My GPA is a 2.9 my SAT score is 2050 and I am nationally ranked in the top 100 boys under 19 in the country. Where could i be going to college?

I know everyone says that if you are an accomplished squash player you can get in anywhere, but I was wondering if my mediocre grades would strongly affect it

most athletes can play anywhere if they’re good enough, just not in the ivy league or at mit. You would be surprised how much some universities drop for their athletes! Note: this is just DI. And because you’re a junior… you need to start now. now. I’m a junior and I started in November, and a friend of mine found that colleges already had filled their volleyball rosters in the fall. However, if you’re good enough this shouldn’t be too big of an issue. Though, keep in mind very few people (numerically) are recruited for college - its like golf, 2 or 3 a year i believe.

For where you should go to college - where do you want to go to college? Then, out of that group, which teams do you like? Note in where you want to go to college - you can put in real academic reaches. If you want to play DIII, not so much.

The only way to find out is to contact the coaches in your sport.

Based upon your top 100 ranking in BU19, you should be competitive for most of the Varsity level squash programs except the top (Trinity, Princeton, Yale). But your AI appears to be a little low. My guess is that your AI is approx 190-195 range, which is on the low side. You might consider some of the NESCAC squash schools (Bates, Colby, Conn, Tufts).

By now you most probably are almost done with the recruiting process. Can you provide a follow-up post on which school you are going to attend next year?
