PLC at Colorado

I know that it is unlikely that anyone has heard of it but I am really debating applying for the Presidential Leadership Class at CU Boulder. I was wondering what were the incentives of participating in such a program.

website: Percipe - Molire - Effice | Home

From what I can tell, they are:
-A certificate in the Study and Practice of Leadership
-$1,000 scholarship per year (lol)
-Opportunities for more scholarships
-Other opportunities

Do these seem worthwhile? how useful is a certificate for future employment/grad school.

On the other hand, applying will involve a bit of stress (because its due feb. 1) and I doubt that I will get in (because it looks like admission is VERY subjective).

Could I get some help in this decision? lol

post ur stats

It’s a great program. Very competitive and difficult to get into. You should absolutely apply.

34 ACT
3.9 unweighted GPA, 4.7 weighted

average leadership/community service/ECs/essay skills

Any comments on why it is a great program or the value of a certificate?

u should apply, I’ve never heard of it, but still apply

last bump----

Coming from Colorado, I know a lot of people who have done the PLC program at University of Denver (very similar program). And they have loved it. It’s way more than a certificate and scholarship. Everyone in the program loves it because of the sense of community and teamwork all the time. I haven’t heard anyone say anything bad about it. It’s almost like a leadership sorority/fraternity rolled into one. You should apply.

Have you read their website? Have you talked to students, or graduates in the program? If you do - you’ll know why you should apply and why you should want in. If that is beyond your capabilities - then I honestly doubt you would even be accepted. If you go to their website - you can find all of the above.

I don’t know why you felt the need to insult me, but obviously I have read the website and just wanted to discuss the concrete benefits of such a program. What else is a college discussion board for?

Anyway, the whole “teamwork” and “community” is great and all, but what does a certificate even mean???

I think it’s just something you can put on your resume for jobs/grad school. It looks good for leadership. But I don’t think this should be the decided factor in applying or not, personally.
