Pleaaaase chance me for UCLA?

I'm only a sophomore, but UCLA is honestly my only choice. If I don't get in, my parents will send me away to community college. Not that there's anything wrong with community college...but you get the idea.

I just want to get a feel of how I'm doing, and if it's strong enough for UCLA. Any input or advice would be greatly appreciated!

ECs (weak spot):
-Member of Human Rights Watch: Student Task Force branch at my school. Hopefully will earn a leadership position next year and senior year.
-Shelter Helpers Club; we volunteer at animal shelters and raise awareness for animal-related issues
-Wonder-Woman; raising awareness for women's rights issues
-I introduced the international Education Under Fire campaign to my school, and organized a couple of screenings of the documentary about the campaign, and set up a time for students to sign an online petition.
-Peer-tutor at my school since beginning of sophomore year
-Next year, I'm planning on joining the Red Cross club.
-During this summer, I'm planning on volunteering at a hospital.

I would really appreciate any input! :)

Honestly, you can’t be doing anything better right now. A 4.0 is exactly that, a 4.0, and I’m jealous of your A in AP Euro. Your EC’s are good but not great (focus on leadership) and your PSAT is pretty solid, but not outstanding. Maintain your GPA, get a 2100-ish on your SAT, and bump up your EC’s a bit and I’d say you’re almost definitely in.

Just curious though, what’s wrong with Berkeley or USC… Both are fine schools around the same caliber as UCLA. Berkeley may even be better than UCLA.

Thanks for the advice! Just one more thing, do SAT II scores play a significant role in UCLA admissions?

There’s nothing wrong with them! It’s just that my parents are extremely…conservative?..and they won’t let me go anywhere else; UCLA is like 5 minutes away from my house. USC is too expensive  And I’m not very knowledgable about scholarships.

You know I actually didn’t even realize that USC was private until just now… My bad. Anyway, SAT II’s will only be considered if they strengthen your application at UCLA and aren’t particularly important (they’re actually optional at UCLA). .

You may want to look over this… It’s an in-depth analysis of the admitted freshman last year, and might help to show you where you stand: [Profile of Admitted Freshmen, Fall 2012 - UCLA Undergraduate Admissions](http://www.admissions.ucla.edu/prospect/adm_fr/Frosh_Prof12.htm)

Great, I’ll take them anyway though! :)

Anyone else have any input?

There’s USC and USC: one is a private school, the other one a flagship public. USC (flagship public) is a safety to that person while USC (private) is about as hard to get into as UCLA. As far as UCLA is concerned, and just about any UC or CSU for that matter, only the best eight honors/AP/IB classes are considered for weighting.

Are you sure CSU-DH, CSUN or CSU-LA isn’t a good idea?

UCLA: Aim for 2100+/31+

Crystal,
If you are interested in engineering or sciences then taking 2 related sat ii is highly recommended and you better score inthe 700plus range…just got back from UC presentation
