At the Day in Carolina we were told that the average transfer gpa was 3.2, (that is for the 1st semester freshman college grades), yet everyone posting here has far higher stats. Were we given the correct information? Also, at one time on the phone with admissions counselor I was told they look at gpa from 4 year top tier school differently from the same gpa in a CC, yet at the Day in Carolina they said "a gpa is a gpa and we don't care where it comes from." We look at them all the same way". Can someone straighten me out? The wait on their decision is killing me and if it's time to give up, I may as well do so now!

Are you from a CC or 4yr? Whats your gpa? all good questions...before you give up.

From a 4 year and gpa is 3.13

Are you applying from a top tier school? Your gpa is low, you definately need to have a good reason ready for them on your app. good luck.

UW Madison. It was a tough adjustment and the grading curve is pretty tough. Hoping they will consider that HS GPA was 3.78 unweighted. Maybe that will help??? Will a decent essay and a good recommendation help? Or is it best to make peace with Madison and jus give up the Carolina dream?

Try and make peace with Madison but don't give up any dreams of Carolina. Work on your transfer application while trying to get involved in your college. That way if you get rejected you'll feel better about your school. But definitely apply. Not applying somewhere because you don't think you'll get in is silly! Especially if you love it.

Thanks Cloying... the applicatin is in...now it's just that long wait until April 22. Do you think having a twin brother there might help? Grasping at straws here....Peace has been made with Madison...It's not a bad place...just HUGE and FREEZING!
