Alright, I took Columbia and University of Chicago off, thanks for the advice! Looking more at the requirements I don’t think I would have been happy there. So that’s what, 4 down, 5-10 more to go. Moving in the right direction :)

If you don’t want a heavy core, you may want to take Columbia off of your list. When my daughter was applying 2 years ago, she took it off of her list for that reason. Also, you may want to look into how many credits your AP’s will get you. There are places that my daughter could have been a semester ahead, earning all 5’s on her exams. Instead, she got nothing for them at Harvard…look into your schools and see what they will give you, especially if this is something you are counting on.

Good point, I’ll definitely look into this more.

If you look at some of the threads on these boards in April, there were a lot of surprise results. It is prudent to have some school on ones list that are likely to take you. Once you have a school in your pocket, hopefully early with rolling admissions, you can eliminate all schools you don’t like as much as that or those schools off your list.

That’s why I have 2 schools that I will be automatically admitted to on ones list. I’ve already eliminated all of the schools that I wouldn’t go to over my guaranteed safeties.

But to have a list of all highly selective schools without at least a safety on the list is foolish.

That would be very foolish indeed.
