Please answer quick so I don't pay the late fee!

hi all, I previously posted this in the Yale forum, and received many awesome responses from the Bulldogs, but but I’d like to hear from the entire CC community.

My entire family and other people I know are pressuring me to retake my Math 2 subject test, after I received a 770. I certainly do not mind studying for it. My problem is that Yale requires you to send in all you test scores…would retaking a 770 be considered overkill? I am fairly confident I could nab the 800 this time around.

Thanks!
PS, I intend on majoring in economics and perhaps minor in math, just so you know

Also PS, my first choice school (Columbia, I’m applying ED) does do score choice, if that changes your answer. My priority is to get in here in the early round. Also, I had decided not to retake it a few months ago, but I told my college counselor today and got a whole lecture about how I’ve got “nothing to lose” for retaking. Gracias amigos

Retake it, it won’t hurt you.

Would admissions offices at colleges that force you to send in all scores look down on me and see me as a perfectionist? Another detail I forgot to add: I’m taking calc bc this year, so I went a year without precalc practice

If you are confident that you can get an 800 and really want to get an 800, I would take it again, and maybe take another one on the same testing date to make it seem less “overkill,” since you won’t be focused just on perfecting that one score. That’s actually what I did after I got 740 the first time (without studying and without a graphing calculator… I was supposed to take a language listening test but didn’t have the cd player :/). I was already planning on taking the Spanish one in May, so I just retook the Math II one along with it. Good luck!
