1) How's the campus life, on and off? Is there a lot to do on campus? What is there to do off-campus? Is it easy transportation? Are there nearby groceries, Targets you could get to by walking? Do you need a car? Or bike? Where's the nearest airport? Is transportation to the airport easy as well?

2) How competitive is their merit aid? I have about a 3.93 UW GPA, positions in extracurriculars, a 1970 (1310 M&CR) SAT. Do I have a shot at the merit aid? If I go I'm going to need a heck of a lot of financial aid. Do they rely a lot on loans for their packages?

3) How is the surrounding area? Upper middle class? Is there a lot to do? Is everything expensive or is it pretty well-priced?

4) How's the diversity and acceptance at USD? Are there a lot of Asians and do they tend to stick together? I'm Asian, but for some reason I don't really have any Asian friends. Is there a lot of diversity as to who your friends are?

5) Overall, how do you like it/did you like it?

There is a ton to do off campus. There's a huge shopping mall called Fashion Valley which is just down the hill. There is the Chargers stadium which is a 5 minute drive. Of course there are the great beaches as well- Mission Beach and Pacific Beach are less than 10 minutes away. Tijuana is also a 20 minute drive and many students around San Diego love to go down there.

You have a very high GPA and decent SAT, so I think that you would definitely get some sort of merit based aid. Especially if you have solid EC's, you should be looking at a nice scholarship. If you really want to go there and convey that on your app, you may even be able to get merit-based aid for possibly up to half of the tuition.

The surrounding area is pretty nice. Linda Vista is a bit sketchy, but USD students don't really go that way from campus anyways. The Friars/Fashion Valley area is definitely nice and many students live in the apartment/condo complexes down there. Also, there is the Mission Beach area where a lot of USD upperclassmen live which is a very fun area.

There's a lot of interaction between races at USD, so that's not really anything to worry about. I'm sure that you would fit in just fine.

USD is definitely a school on the rise and it has a very good rep...especially around San Diego. If you have not visited, I would suggest checking the school out because the campus is one of the nicest that I have ever seen....probably one of the top three that I have seen (and I've seen at least 50).
