Please be aware that you may not get housing if you switch your entry term!

Just wanted to let you know that when my S tried to switch his entry term from Fall to Summer B last year 2010, they would not tell him if he got the switch until May. It sounds like that is the same thing they are saying for 2011. ***Please be aware that if you do get switched, you will not be picking your summer b housing until mid May!! All of the other summer b kids will have already picked their housing! You will be at the bottom of the list and may not get on campus housing! Or you may have to be in a triple dorm room or in an unconditioned dorm. This was told to us last year after many phone calls to admissions and housing. They said that by mid may there was a good chance that no on-campus housing would be left. My S decided to forget it. He went Fall 2010. Ask yourself if it is worth it to possibly sublet an apartment or live in a triple for summer B if you ask for a switch from Fall 2011 to Summer B 2011. Just wanted to let you know....

What about the inverse of that?

I wanted Fall, got Summer B for “space reasons”, want Fall. This is because I have a high EFC from FAFSA (thus no Aid) and have a summer job lined up and was expected to work for 4.5 months and get decent amount of money for room and board.

So I kind of really need Fall. I paid my housing app like November 6th, so will I also get bottom of the pile?

Just do two contracts, one for Fall and one for Summer B, after you get changed cancel the one you are not going by saying that Admissions changed your term.
