Please, be harsh on me.

Hello,

I really need your honest opinions of my chance to get into Penn.
Penn is my first choice, seriously, the only place I love to go.

Since I submitted my application to Penn, I have been worried a lot.
I lost a significant amount of my hair due to intense stress... (embarassing//)

Like most other kids, probably, more eagerly and desperately, I want to go to my first choice school.

I know that I will break down badly if I get deferred or rejected.
I may blow up my final tests and will not be able to finish my other applications.

I want you to tell me if my chance is low. If then, I would like to know ahead and prepare my other apps. So, even if I hear the bad news from Penn on December 15, I will be still at some other place next fall.

My strenths are high SAT scores and a unique major as an Asian female.
- If you are interested to hear, I will explain later why I want to pursue a major in Middle Eastern Studies. :)

My weak points are the comparatively low junior GPA (though I attend a pretty competitive private school) and well-rounded but too much Asian-istic profiles.

I would love to hear some encouragements and criticisms.

Thank you :)

You are international.

Do you need financial aid?

nope, i don't need financial aid.

Like most other kids, probably, more eagerly and desperately, I want to go to my first choice school

what is that supposed to mean?

Obviously she means that a lot of kids aren't eager to go to school. This girl needs to be taught a lesson in arrogance! Just kidding.

GPA - Poor
SAT - Excellent
EC - Very good

You have a good chance at Penn, I suppose.

Your private school is in Massachusetts?

Philips Academy Andover or Deerfield Academy?

What is your GPA for the first two years of high school?

Like most other kids, probably, more eagerly and desperately, I want to go to my first choice school.

Which means...
that I will be crazy, seriously out of my mind... if I don't get in.

I don't really have second choices...
I know other colleges are as good as Penn
but I just cannot picture myself in other places.
This is a very dangerous mindset, I know.
And that's the problem... (hoo~)

It sounds a bit arrogant, selfish, and self-centered...
If you got offended, I apologize.

NMH, it's near Deerfield
not as prominent as those you mentioned
but pretty decent.

I love it :)

I would shocked if you didn't get in with those sats...but have you only taken 2 ap classes?

u really have a good chance, there is nothing bad to comment on yours

I took three ap classes last year and I am taking three this year.

not many tough ones, mostly moderate ones.
(AP US, AP AB, AP Env. Science, AP Econ, AP Euro, AP Chinese)

omg, I have spent 4 hours on this website only.
I think I am completely out of my mind. I have lots of work undone!!!
I am acting as if I got my ED admission.

People, you gotta be harsh on me!!!
so that I would be shocked and do something... T-T

if u don't get in, you have to remember that it is JUST a college. college won't reflect on who you are as a person. prestige isn't real.

I wouldn't say you will have an easy time getting in. You have a great SAT, but not such fantastic grades, and few APs in comparison. Moreover, it looks like your ECs are pretty milquetoast and middle of the road.

Why is it that you are so stuck on Penn? Try to get interested in some other universities.

go on overnight visits or regular to visits to other schools to help you realize that there are many great places besides penn! i applied early somewhere too.. but i've written all my other applications to try and get excited about those schools too.. when i was researching/writing the "why __?" essay for a particular school, i realized that that school had a lot to offer me, and was actually extremely compatible with my interests.. it's really good to try and focus on other places so that in the event that you aren't accepted to penn, you can be upset for a while but then think, well, now i have the opportunity to go to X school. talk to people you know who applied to penn/are looking at penn, and see where else they are looking.. maybe that would be a good place to start in terms of finding other colleges that would be suitable for you. there are also websites like that i think, that say like "people who were interested in X school, also looked at Z school"

Yeah, I think the SAT site has that feature.
