I am currently a high school sophomore in a prestigious high school. Freshmen year I took honors physics and honors geometry, and regular English history and French 2, and drawing. I also did jv volleyball jv basketball and varsity track. This year I am in honors chemistry honors French 3 honors algebra 2, and regular history, regular English, photography semester 1 and now I’m in stained glass (my school does not offer ap’s sophomore year) This year I have also done varsity cross country and varsity track. Junior year I will be taking ap chemistry, honors precalculas/calculus a, honors French 4, honors bio, possibly honors English, and regular us history. I will also be doing cross country in the fall and volunteering at a hospital every weekend. I get mostly a minuses, and my unweighted gpa is 3.85. I took a practice act without studying and my score was about 30. What are my chances of being able to get into a good college (Stanford, Berkeley, ucla etc)?
By the way I’m not that great at sports, I just enjoy playing them and being part of a team. Thanks!!!
Basically what I’m asking is what are my chances of getting into an ivy and what are my chances of getting into the top 25 schools?
Other than admission to a prestigious university, what are your goals? If you are only a sophomore in high school you do not need to have well defined academic interests or plans yet. Simply going to a school because it is an Ivy league or ranked as a top-25 seems devoid of purpose. Follow your interests. It sounds like you have rigorous high school classes. Good to hear that you enjoy your sports and the team camaraderie.
If you maintain that GPA or raise it you’ll get into a top 25 school most likely. Good ECs, with some studying you can probably get a 32 or 33+ on the ACT. The only thing is that the highest ivys and random top schools will probably be a reach for you. Come back with more info in a yearish once you have specific colleges in your mind, and an idea of your junior year grades if you want feedback on specifics.
