A bit about myself:
3.9 GPA in high school, 4.4 during junior year
1850 SAT
28 ACT
730 Physics, 700 Math II
Eagle Scout
held a job for over a year at a hobby shop
founded aviation club at my high school junior year
involved in several other clubs throughout high school
hundreds of hours of community service
3 years jv tennis, 1 season cross country
3 AP classes, aced Physics AP both semesters
(applied with priority engineering, second business)
I have been accepted to Rutgers, Embry-Riddle, UC Riverside, Cal Poly Pomona.
Rejected to UCLA, Cal Poly SLO, UCSB, UCSD
Waiting on UCB, UCD, UCI, UVA
While I could care less about LA and SB, I really liked SD and especially SLO
Still waiting on UCI, UCD, UCB.
I have friends that have lesser qualifications than I and have already been accepted to UCI. The brain freaks who did little outside of school have all gotten in to LA, SD, and SB it seems.
I'm not a drama queen or anything, but today has been pretty sad with **** news from my AP calc class and rejections to UCSD and UCSB.
Realistically speaking, what are my odds of getting in to UCB, UCD, and UCI? And UVA if anyone knows. Thanks

your SAT/ACT is pretty tbh… i dont really know the stats of the UCs cuz they were my backup… but I think you have a good chance at UCI, UCD

I sure hope so I would love to go to Davis…

Davis is still possible…as for Irvine, I thought all admission decisions are out (I may be wrong), and the rest are rejection letters.
Berkeley…well, good luck.

Davis is possible, i think u have a fairly good chance. i don’t see why u couldn’t get into ucsb and uci

Irvine is just a bit upsetting because one of my friends who has lesser EC’s than I do and 100 points lower sat and 3 less ACT and same GPA less ap classes less sports already got in to irvine…

^
It’s easy to consider your ECs as superior to someone else’s. The adcoms may view your friend’s ECs differently, or your friend’s essays and recommendations may have been superior to yours. If the negative attitude towards your classmates that’s coming through here came through in your application (e.g. in recommendations or essays), it could have worked against you.

Actually SAT’s play very little role in the UC’s i believe. get that GPA up and you should be good! :D

I don’t know, UCs are weird. I have a low GPA but I got into SB but rejected from Irvine. I’ve heard that they aren’t putting as much weight on GPA this year which could explain how I managed to get into SB

Your SAT scores are pretty low, but u should have a pretty good shot with your GPA and ECs

Unbelievable. This week I have been rejected to Santa Barbara, San Diego, Davis, Berkeley, and Irvine. I have no negative attitude toward my less qualified friend. However, his sat was 1700, his GPA equal,(I still took more AP and Honors classes though) did hundreds more volunteer hours and earned the rank of Eagle Scout… and a legitimate job at a store for over a year. (he cleaned baseball fields for two years). He got in to UC Irvine, I did not. We both applied for slots in Aerospace Engineering. The only things he may have done better than me is write a better essay or have his bahai faith working for him. I know those sound like weak arguments but I just can not for the life of me explain why he would get in and why I would not.
However I am proud I got in to the honors college at Rutgers. Thats a pretty good school. I would not have even gone to Irvine if I had gotten in there. Just seeing someone with those qualifications being admitted compared to my superior qualifications being rejected is upsetting. Nonetheless, I must make the best with what I have. I think Rutgers and UC Riverside are my top choices as of now. I can’t stand to see one more god damn rejection letter this week… lol
