http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1903428-faq-uc-historical-frosh-admit-rates-by-hs-gpa.html

Even though your GPA is in the top bracket, in 2015, frosh applicants to UCB in that GPA range had only a 46% admission rate.

Can you afford the price as a non-resident?

In the 2014 and 2016 cycles both D and S were accepted to UCB with 4.2/33 Act (EECS) and 4.3/34 Act (LS) respectfully. However at our local HS these gpas put both in top 5% spots. Both also had 4.0 uw, in state.

Thank you! I think I’ll be applying LS to major in CS, don’t want to risk EECS apps.

Does Berkeley look at overall grades, outside of the UC GPA? Would a 3.9 UW be damaging to my chances?

Admissions readers will see your courses and grades, and will see your GPA calculated unweighted, weighted-capped, and weighted-uncapped.

L&S admits undeclared; intended major does not matter. However, L&S CS requires a 3.3 GPA in the prerequisites to declare the major.
