Most of my accomplishments have come from within small groups, which worries me....as does my mediocre GPA (strong test scores + average GPA = poison for some schools).
Also in the past, colleges have been known to shunt kids from our school into a separate admission pool.

Thank you for your replies everyone! I appreciate your input, and will chance you back!

THE MOST HONEST ANSWER WINS

Duke rice = in
Ivies = reach for us all

Chance me back please!

Well the whole bit with high SATs and low GPAs is that colleges (typically ivies) like to see more of the GPA than the SAT side. There are people rejected each year with 2400 SATs and all that stuff. Idk. but Ivies are unpredictable >< I would group Stanford into that too. Cornell is probably the “easiest” Ivy to get admission to, so i would say you have a good shot for Cornell (they also like asian people :P)

i would say you have really good shots at NYU, USC, WashU, Northwestern, and Carnegie Mellon. and of course, you’re in at UMiami.

[thread=830377]Chance me! :slight_smile: Will chance back[/thread]

Low gpa your a bum.
Ivies - reach
Stanford - reach
rest - in or match

[If I could change one thing… - Page 31 - College Confidential](http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?goto=newpost&%20t=20575)

Your GPA isn’t so hot, but it’s counterbalanced by your ECs. Your MIT award should really stand out, as should your stellar SATs. But being Asian doesn’t help. >.<

I can only speak for the schools I know a lot about, but it seems that:

-NYU - in

 • Stanford - mid reach
 • Yale - high reach
 • Cornell - in
 • Brown - low reach
 • Columbia - low reach
 • Rice - in
 • Duke - in
 • Northwestern - definitely in
 • Washington U. in St. Louis - this is a safety, right? you’re in
 • Carnegie Mellon - definitely in
 • U Miami - definitely in

Please chance back!!

Of course, like everyone said, the ivies will be a stretch. I know tons of people with high gpa/sats that got rejected. many of which were asians. frankly, it doesn’t help.
They rest you’re in for sure, maybe even with scholarships.
