<p>the laptop thing is true, i am on my laptop right now. It comes with a case, ethernet cables, USB port, and assorted media, and is included in tuition + is yours to keep after college.</p>
<p>Anyway, I think your scores are on the low side and your extracurriculars are sub-par, however your GPA and rank will help. But Nova really puts the emphasis on the extracurriculars, it is a very community oriented school. Try re-taking the SAT and doing some volunteer work this summer.</p>
<p>I was accepted to Villanova with a 610 in critical reading. Your scores are fine, I would say. I would volunteer at a local hospital or animal shelter, or just do some form of service. Villanova is very service-oriented and that will hit big with them. I don't mean to sound racist or insensitive, but being asian will help your chances because they are looking for diversity. Since you are looking to major in the science department, I would definately say you have a strong shot. The Sciences college is the fourth hardest college within Villanova University to be accepted into. (Nursing is first because they only give out 90 spots a year, Business is second because it was recently ranked 13th in the country, Engineering is the third, Sciences the fourth, and Liberal Arts the fifth.) The laptop program is true! It's a wonderful program. This year's incoming freshman were all given a Dell D630 Latitude Notebook which was included in tuition. You keep that laptop for your freshman & sophomore years. UNIT (the on-campus technology service) fixes your laptop free of charge (and in a super timely fashion might I add) if any damage happens during your years here. At the beginning of your junior year you hand in your first laptop and are issued a newer laptop. You are allowed to keep this laptop after graduation. As novagirl said, you are also given a usb plug, ethernet cable, various media, so on and so forth. The laptop also comes fully equipped with the latest edition of Microsoft Office.</p>
<p>Sorry brandnew but I STRONGLY disagree with your rankings about which is the hardest college to get into. While nursing has the smallest number of spots, you have to think about how many people apply to that program. And
"Business is second because it was ranked 13th in the country?" That honestly doesn't even make sense. When I applied to Villanova, Admissions actually told me that "science" is the hardest school to get into because they have a huge number of applications for a relatively few amount of spots.</p>
<p>And as for you Shawn, you rank is really good, but try and get the SATs up.</p>

The fact that VSB recently ranked 13th in the country means that its popularity is bound to increase, thus receiving even MORE applications, thereby making it much more competitive. When I applied I was told that the A&S college has the most spots to give to out.</p>
<p>Yes I did agree that nursing has the smallest number of spots but no, that does not make it the hardest to secure. Nursing is not the most popular of majors and a RELATIVELY small number of students apply to nursing programs. Therefore, it is all relative. In other words lets say that nursing accepts 150 students (knowing that all won't attend) out of 500 applications to the nursing school that they received. Isn't this exactly the same as the business school receiving 3000 applications and accepting 900 students? You can't pass judgment based on how many spots a school has. You have to always relate it to how many people apply to that program.</p>
<p>Obviously VSB's popularity will increase but why would that necessarily make it the SECOND hardest school to get into? Why not the first? You seem to be pulling these number out of your ***.</p>
<p>Wow...let's just say in general, it has become very difficult to be offered admission at Villanova in ANY school. There have been many qualified students who were not offered admission for whatever reason. We see it happen every year although this one seemed to be without any rhyme or reason. As the school's popularity has risen, it is in the position to be VERY selective. The national rankings subsequently draw even more attention. Add new deans and a new president and the rest and you have a situation where it almost seems like admission in almost impossible to predict. All I know is that in my son's high school there were many disappointed applicants who applied to not only to nursing, but business, engineering and A&S. What is even crazier is that some of these waitlisted kids got into Colgate, Boston College, Lehigh, Michigan...so who knows. You guys who got in are the lucky ones..I tell that to my son every day...he got in, too!</p>
<p>let's see... apply Early Action and you're most likely in. and if you get your score up in October you would have a chance for merit aid, although Villanova doesn't give much merit aid anyway. good luck.</p>
