are you instate for berkeley? and all of those are EXTREMELY competitive. you nee a safety/match

I’m not familiar with the schools you’re applying to, but my two cents are that as an asian with those stats, you may have some trouble competing with other californian asians who have 4.0s and perfect scores :3 I wish you the best of luck, though!

I’d say Boston University is a safty/match.

To Puzzle and GSV13: Aw, fudgesickles. And no, I’m not instate for California.

Well, the replies just killed my motor. Despite that, I do feel like I actually still have a chance, though (I am the master of denial).

Thanks to Puzzle, GSV13, and terry574

No chance at Cal and CMU seems like a really big reach.

im interested in this topic too because my grades are almost exactly the same

Boston U is a match. Berkeley and CMU are reaches.

What’s your intended major?

I don’t have an intended major yet. I’d like to study in the areas of Psychology, Sociology, or Public Relations, though.

Unfortunately, you don’t have much of a chance at Berkeley because of your grades–if you’re out-of-state, you have to be a terrific student. BU is your best bet.

HLZ, you are not a sad excuse for anyone.

Good luck with your search.

June SAT scores

740M/740CR/660W Essay = 8

Just thought I’d let the people who took the time to answer my question know.

Excellent, HLZ! BEst of luck! :)

Thank you!

wow, that 2140 SAT is really gonna help you! Unfortunately, colleges, especially competitive ones like CMU and UCB really care about GPA/Schedule Rigor. Those bad math grades but the high SAT math score is gonna make them think that you are lazy. I’m not sure about BU, but I think you have a decent shot. However, you should definitely look at some safety schools.

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/752367-chance-me-engineering-colleges.html

sweatdrop BU IS my safety school… That, and Syracuse. Damn it, looks like I’ve been too big-headed. Yeah, I was afraid that schools would think I’m lazy because of my high SAT math, but low regular math scores. Honestly? When you live in China, and have a Chinese math teacher, but learned basic math in America, you’re going to get screwed. =( I should have been smarter and dropped out of Honors Math. Honestly, messed up my life.

Could you recommend some safety schools?
