anybody, please? I’ll chance back/share my input on your thread

Your grades are good, ECs too, ACT is solid (Duke’s 25/75: 30-34; ND’s 25/75: 31-34).

I think you’ve got a good shot, certainly worth applying. Make sure you spend a lot of time on your essays.

Good luck. :shamrock:

Alright thank you. Should my ECs/ACT/Soph/Jr grades make up for my subpar performance from Freshman year?

Yes, though it wasn’t bad, and colleges realize that it’s a transition year. A few Bs freshman year aren’t going to have a negative impact.

Alright thanks. I guess it wasn’t that bad, but it was definitely below average for top universities.

Anyone else?

Your freshman year should not be a problem at all… like DolorousEdd said even the most prestigious colleges recognize that freshman year is a difficult period… your grades also show improvement over time which colleges love to see

Alright thank you. Anyone else?

You’re in the running, colleges are more forgiving about your freshman year grades
also, your devotion to your EC’s will look pretty good on your app.

Good luck man.

Thanks. Will only three years of a language hurt me? I’ve heard rumors that it does, but I honestly hate language and am much more interested in Econ (which is what I replaced it with).

Notre Dame only requires two years of high school foreign language, though encourages more. Don’t know about Duke.

Wow, everything looks great to me. You’ll probably get in to at least one of those schools. Your great academics and sports record is very “Notre Dame.” Good luck!

alright thanks, ill chance you back in a few hours when i wake up

You have a pretty decent chance; Your gpa isn’t great, but it shows an upward chance. Maybe take another SAT II? Good luck!

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1188763-chance-me-please-terribad-gpa-ok-ish-sat-ecs-will-chance-back.html

What colleges really like to see is that upward trend from freshman year to senior year, which is what you have. Your tests scores are neutral for both schools, they won’t really hurt you but they won’t stand out. Definitely apply to both though, ND loves athletic students with a serious commitment, even if you don’t continue the sport there. PM me if you have any question, i’m an ND student.

alright thanks, anyone else?

youre ECs are pretty cool, that should help you

Your ACT score is really nice, that should help you out. Your freshman year wasn’t that rough, and besides its almost not a bad thing considering the upward trend, just keep it up your senior year. make your essays vivid and engaging and you’ll have a decent chance.

alright thanks anybody else?

I don’t think your freshman year should be that big of an impact, from what I’ve heard, freshmen years are not looked upon too harshly by college admissions officers, plus they like that you have worked harder sophomore and junior years.
