I'm an Asian student in a very competitive public high school in California.

UW GPA: 3.70
UC GPA: 4.00
W GPA: 4.28

SAT I: 2040
SAT II: US History - 790 and Math - 780

I wrote an above average essay and have taken an active role in the numerous clubs I participated in. I have some leadership and have racked up many state level awards in FBLA and Speech and Debate. I have also volunteered for 200+ hours and have had one internship.

My counselor and teachers wrote great recs for me as well.

Can you guys please chance me for UCB, UCLA, UCSD, UCD, USC, CMU, NYU, and UI - Urbana?

to me, this is the ranking system on both a scale of 1-10 and reach/match/in:
1= high reach
2= reach
3= low reach
4= high match
5-6= match
7= low match
8-10= safety

UCB- High Match
UCLA- High Match
UCSD- Match
UCD- Low Match
USC- High Match
CMU- Low Reach
NYU- Depends on which school. If Stern, low reach. If not, match.
UI - Urbana- Match

I actually have a 30.5 on the ACT which rounds to a 31 composite. I don’t know if that changes anything but yeah… and I don’t know how much weight the UC’s put on extracurricular activities and the personal statements, but those factors are definitely the strongest in my application.

I think you’re in for all of them, and if you live in cali, especially the UC’s. I know that UCB loves well rounded students and since your EC is good and so are your grades/tests, it’ll just come down to the essay which I think you’re fine since you say its above avg.

My opinion honestly…YOU HAVE A PRETTY GOOD CHANCE FOR ALL OF THEM !! especially after you said you had good rec’s which will actually increase ur chance even more !! Good luck man :D

all schools look good except ucla and uc berkeley. in fall 2009 ucla average was a 4.16 uc gpa and 2010 sat. the average for berkeley is a 4.15 uc gpa and a 2033 sat. but gap can be made up if you have good essays

HEY,
This is what I think:
UCB- 60% this is for everyone with good stats.
UCLA-70% I think you are almost in. =) I know a lot of people who got in. Although their stats and ecs vary you are better than a lot of them.
UCSD 85% This sometimes is not accurate because this schools changes their requisites a lot. (I meant what they look for.)
UCD 85% I think you have pretty good chances at Davis.
USC 70%
CMU 65%
NYU 80% maybe a little bit less.
UI - Urbana 75%
You have pretty good stats.
Good luck.

UCB- low reach
UCLA- low reach
UCSD- Match
UCD- Low Match
USC- High Match
CMU- High Match - low reach
NYU- High Match
UI - Urbana- Match
good luck and all the best!!
btw high match is better than low reach
