Please Chance a URM for Ivies and Georgetown?

Unweighted GPA: 4.0, Weighted GPA: 4.3 (probably an increase after 1st semester)

AP/IB scores: APUSH- 5

Intended Major: Biochemistry

I've done interviews for Yale and Georgetown, went fairly well
Essays: Not my best work, but the teacher who read them over for me disagreed
Recs: Counselor likes me so I don't think it's cookie-cutter, Teacher Recs- one was amazing, the other I didn't see but I think it was ok

Been deferred by Yale SCEA so far (sigh)

Unique Situation: The reasons my ECs are all over the place is because I switched schools from a crappy one that didn't have anything but Model UN and Journalism-esque ECs to a larger, better funded school with an IB program and actual AP classes (gasp) in junior year. While I had better opportunities there, my ECs and the classes I've taken show a huge turnaround, though there is definitely a strong upward trend.

Please chance me for: Yale, Harvard, UPenn, and Georgetown...
Don't worry, I don't have my hopes up. I've already applied and have been accepted to two safeties, but I would LOVE to go to any of the above schools.

Harvard: high reach
Yale: high reach
UPenn: low-medium reach

honestly not sure about Georgetown
Your volunteer hours and services are the highlight of your application

Georgetown is probably a Low Reach
Harvard & Yale: Reach
UPenn: Low Reach-Reach

It’s very possible you’ll get into any of them.

I think you could possibly get into Penn and Georgetown. I would say that those would be low-mid reaches.

Harvard and Yale, IMHO, would be high reaches; however, they are reaches for everybody.

Let us know how you make out and best of luck!

And, P.S. Your stats are anything but pathetic. I know a few folks who would like to have these “pathetic” stats. :)

Would you mind sharing your final decision or results?
