Just some explaining about myself: I am a high school junior studying in South Korea. I am American, but I came to Korea for middle school and stayed ever since. South Korea has this special “gifted school” program that allows "gifted science high school"s to focus on math/science. We do study Korean/English/Social Studies but math and science combine for more than half of our credits. Middle school sophomores are allowed to graduate after their sophomore year if they get accepted to a gifted school(I did).
Here are my scores:
SAT I: will probably be in the low 1500s
SAT II: will probably score 800 in Math/Physics/Chemistry
AP: 5: Calculus, Both Physics C, Chemistry(will take Biology/Statistics/Micro and will probably be 5)
Other tests: Near perfect AMC/AIME, mediocre USAMO
GPA(my biggest concern): UW 4.05 out of 4.3. School doesn’t do weighted because all students are required to take the same amount of math/science classes. School doesn’t rank, but if they did I would probably be around 80/130
My ECs:
-Innovative Technology club vice president
-Korean PhO: MOP qualified
-CS camp in a Korean national institute(Sort of like the Korean equivalent of Caltech)
-International math competitions(not IMO, wasn’t qualified)
-Sabermetrics club
-Volunteering program to teach science to middle school students
-Lots of math/physics research, one published in an actual journal
Unlike a lot of the students here, my class rank isn’t even average and I will not get any of those “once in a lifetime” LoRs. I do have a lot of unique experiences from living in both countries/attending a unique school, so my essay will probably be good.
Intended major: Economics, Applied Math
Schools: Stanford, Duke, Notre Dame, MIT, Chicago, Penn, Cornell, Georgetown, Berkeley
Please chance me for these schools and/or suggest some other schools for me.
