Bump!!!

a friend of mine got accepted at ucla although he was DEFINITELY an average student. well he’s smart but nowhere near as accomplished as you are. the only EC he had was he did tennis for a yr. but he is a california resident and i think UC’s give preferences to in state students? lol not sure. but anyways, i think awesome chances at ucla, usc, and tulane. dunno abt the other ones. best of luck! :)

thanks guys! anymore ideas on specific school chances?

I think you have a good chance of getting into Syracuse, UPitt, and UConn. UVA will be a high match/ low reach (having all A’s in the first half might help). USC and BC might be a little harder since it is getting more competitive but you definitely still apply. Emory is a reach for everyone, but again, definitely apply. Don’t know much about UCLA or Tulane though.

Thanks, if both my parents went to BC how big of a difference will that make in admissions?

Emory, UVA, USC and UCLA are all reaches. Even as a URM, having at least a 3.7 would help you a lot at admissions to these schools. Your GPA of 3.3 hurts you a whole lot and your test scores don’t really help you either. BC is a possibility if you can get all As this semester. Pitt, Syracuse, Tulane, BU and UConn are all matches for you and you should be able to get in there. Even getting a 4.0 this semester may not be enough for your top tier schools because for OOS, they are all as difficult as near Ivies. Still, it’s not entirely impossible if you do manage to do well this semester. I would try to get that SAT up if at all possible and make sure I have excellent recs and essays. That would maximize your chances. Good luck!

Thanks a ton, anyone have ideas on similar schools that I should consider?

Bump!!! !!

Except for your gpa and your math sat grade, your record is very impressive.

I think you have a chance everywhere. I would take you despite your relatively low gpa, if I were an admissions officer.

And being hispanic should help.

To the extent you can, stress your ECs in your essays.

Which top colleges (if any) tend to accept more students with my type of profile (ie high SAT particularly verbal, ECs, URM, low gpa)? Would I have a better shot with the top LACs with my type of profile?
