has inspired me to follow in his footsteps. (Contributed to my increase in GPA junior year)
-The Link Crew program at my school and how it taught me to become a leader. As commissioner, I coordinate the program at our school and plan/organize the events and freshman approach process.

I also have good letters of recommendation from my Journalism/English teacher (plan to be a part of college publication), AP Bio teacher, and Honors Pre-Calc teacher.

Sorry for making this post too long, but thanks again for your help guys!

Well, I can’t really chance you, but if you have a close relative who went to a college that really you wanted to go to, it gives you a nice advantge. And if you are thinking of med. school, a good Bio-reccomendation also helps too, esp. AP. :)

thanks. i haven’t read the recommendation letter itself, but past students have told me they usually are great.

Stanford- Unlikely (Rank too low).
Harvard- Same as above.
Northwestern- Most probably in if you apply ED.
USC- Same as above.
UC Los Angeles- In.
UC Berkeley- In.
UC San Diego- In.
UC Irvine- In.
UC Davis- In.

Your essays sound interesting and your application, as a whole, if well-integrated, could really stand out.

Good luck with everything! :)

thanks a lot PrincetonDreams! good luck to you too

Stanford and Harvard… too random to tell. But the rest you seem to have a good chance? GPAs a shame but you seem to be well off everywhere else. I think (I’m not good at this). Good luck!

Stanford - reach
Harvard - reach
Northwestern - as a legacy, i think you have a shot :slight_smile:
USC- match
UC Los Angeles - in
UC Berkeley - most likely
UC San Diego - in
UC Irvine - in
UC Davis- in

Your GPA might hurt you a bit, but with your great other points like SAT, I am sure you are good with any UC schools. But Ivy league ones look tough…

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1000761-chance-me-nyu-cornell-ucla-ucb-mit-etc-then-i-swear-chance-you-back.html</a></p>

thanks for the chance!

Ivies and Stanford won’t happen with rank. Your best bet would be to ED northwestern since you’re a legacy. They don’t take mammy not in the top 10%, but as a high scoring legacy, you may have a shot.

Stanford- Not much of a chance
Harvard- Not much of a chance
Northwestern- Good reach, ED will get you in
USC- In
UC Los Angeles- In
UC Berkeley- Reach, likely in
UC San Diego- In
UC Irvine- In
UC Davis- In

Chance ME?
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1000933-what-my-chances-depauw-university-washington-wisconsin-u.html</a></p>

Berkeley looks much more at gpa so that doesn’t bode in your favor and UCSD’s point system is going to hurt you a lot. If I were to guess…
Harvard=no
Stanford=no
Berkeley=yes
UCLA=yes
UCSD=no
Irvine=yes
Davis=yes
USC=no
Northwestern ED=yes
Good Luck :)

thanks guys. at the moment, UCLA is first choice, so I’m hoping to get into there or USC

I think Stanford and Harvard may be a bit of a stretch because of your GPA, but I think you have a fairly good chance at getting into the UC’s.
The school’s you’re applying to are similiar to me :smiley:
good luck!

thanks. bump!

10char bump!

you’re in at the UC’s, USC’s a match, and northwestern too if you apply ED. you know Stanford doesn’t look at your freshman year grades right? So you might have a chance with that upward trend of yours. However, HYPSM are all toss ups. you could have flown to the moon and still get rejected. good luck!!

P.S: You’re indian, so i know you’re cool; at least you have that :)

haha thanks. good luck to you. im assuming you’re indian too, so you have the “cool factor” thing going for you as well.

Stanford - reach
Harvard - reach
Northwestern - low reach, probably because your a legacy
USC- depends, they are random sometimes, but probably you will get in
UC Los Angeles - match
UC Berkeley - match
UC San Diego - in
UC Irvine - in
UC Davis- in

However due to your low GPA, UCLA and CAL may be very weird. Ive seen people with very high SAT scores get rejected because of their low GPA. However you have a good chance. Best of Luck !!!

Abhay, do you have any tips for the ACT and SAT? You did GREAT
