Please chance for CS (Cornell, UIUC, Rice, etc)

Hi, I'm trying to figure out my chances of getting into these schools so that I can make a balanced list :) I'm a junior at a competitive public magnet school in New England. Here are my stats:

soph PSAT: 221 (forget breakdown.. highest math, lowest writing)
UW GPA: 3.6ish
will not be ranked because I'm a transfer student
i've taken a couple summer college courses in psych and writing and gotten As
My math grades are usually high but last year I got a C+ one semester of precalc.

white female
EFC: ~50k

Sched this year: AP french, gym/research, AP lang, AP euro, physics, and AP calc AB
Senior Sched: AP stats, gym/intro art, AP lit, AP gov, AP physics C, AP calc BC
unfortunately i got a 3 on the AP CS exam last year because there were a lot of questions at the end that i didn't finish

ECs:
1. Varsity XC (captain) (summer and fall) (4 yrs)
2. Track (winter and spring) (4 yrs)
3. taught myself python, C++ last year and summer
4. Girls Who Code (VP) (3 yrs)
5. GSA (4 yrs)
6. buddhist sangha (3 yrs)
7. job last summer
8. slam poetry (just began performing this year)
9. some volunteering fresh and soph years

here are the schools i've been looking at:
Cornell Eng (ED)
Rice Eng
USC Eng
Vanderblt Eng (ED 2 maybe)
Ga Tech CC
UIUC Eng
Tufts ENG
UT Austin CNS
NEU CCIS
UGA CAS
UMD CCMNS

do you think it is too reach heavy?

thanks in advance! if youd like i can chance you back to the best of my ability.

Bump

Some of your extracurriculars are really good, but I wouldn’t say that you would be accepted into Cornell because you aren’t as competitive. If you had some more awards then maybe. You should add some more safety schools. You are a match for everything except Cornell and Rice. Good luck!

Thanks!

Cornell Eng (ED)- that might be a bit tough
Rice Eng- that might also be a bit tough, but for both of these, if you have a really convincing essay, I think that should help you
USC Eng- very likely, viterbi has a pretty good acceptance rate
Vanderblt Eng (ED 2 maybe)- ED would make you likely to get in
Ga Tech CC- likely
UIUC Eng- ???
Tufts ENG- likely… but engineering is a bit tougher to get into, i think
UT Austin CNS- likely
NEU CCIS- likely
UGA CAS- very likely
UMD CCMNS- likely
are you planning to run in college? because that would help you a lot.

I would say you’re good everywhere but Rice and Cornell, those are typically very difficult to get into. I didn’t see SAT IIs listed which are required for some colleges at Cornell. I would say you are most likely to be best situated at Vanderbilt, though I wouldn’t rule out Cornell or Rice just yet.

Thanks ! I haven’t taken SAT IIs yet (I’m a junior). Im planning on taking math ii and french

I’m not sure if I’m good enough to get recruited

Cornell and Rice are going to be a reach, and haha I got a C one semester for pre cal too. The rest should be fine depending on you test scores

I think that tufts might be a reach too. On my kid’s naviance, SATs and GPA are lower for Cornell than tufts. last year, he got into tufts whereas classmates were rejected but got into Cornell with lower scores but same grades.

Thanks for your insight  my school doesn’t have naviance unfortunately

re: #12, a limitation of Naviance, for multi-college universities that do admissions by college, is that it does not break out the particular college at that university that the students applied to.
The data is an amalgam of applications to all undergraduate colleges at Cornell. Whose standards and requirements are not all identically the same. Drawing conclusions specific to its engineering college from that may be quite misleading.
