I'll gladly chance back if you tell me to. Should I lower the schools I'm applying to? Thinking about applying early decision to UPenn Wharton.

IB scores are calculated out of maximum of 7 points. I will probably be predicted 44/45 points.

Your credentials are pretty good. I’m not really familiar with IB information, but what you’ve provided seems impressive. You SAT scores could be a little higher, but they are still good; your subject tests are excellent. I think you have just as good a chance as anybody; at this point, it is up to your essays and teacher evaluations

Good Luck :)

Wharton (UPenn): High Reach
Cornell: Reach
Columbia: High Reach
Georgetown: Low Reach
Emory: Low Reach
UVA: Low Reach
Carnegie Mellon: High Match/Low Reach
UChicago: Reach
NYU: Low Match/Match

Thanks for the comments,

quick question, does early action improve my chances of getting into a particular college? Or is that only for early decision?

Dayum, 7 in HL English? That’s pretty impressive. Anyway, if you have the chance to retake the SAT I, you should probably do so and aim to get 2200+, as your score is a little low in the “asian” category.

Wharton - Reach
Cornell - High-mid match
Columbia - Reach
UChicago - Match
NYU - Match

Also, early action and early decision are more or less the same thing. The only difference is when a school offers “restrictive early action” - where you can’t apply early to any other school if you apply early there (eg. Stanford, Cornell). Generally, when applying early, the acceptance rate is higher, but the pool of applicants is stronger.

All the best.

Chance back? =)

The impact of EA varies, highly.

Would you say EA is worth it? Or should I choose to ED instead?
