Please chance me (already applied)

Applied to the following schools for engineering:

Virginia Tech, Ohio State, Syracuse, Binghamton, Stony Brook, Tulane,

Overall GPA : 3.0

Fresh - 1.7/2.0
Soph - 1.7/2.0
Junior - 4.0
Senior - 4.0

SAT : 1340

EC’s : Varsity Tennis 5 years

Mitigating Circumstances : 5 year custody battle that took place from Middle school to junior year of highschool.

Diversity : Gay (if that means anything)

College Essay : Decent, I talk about how I was in trauma during my custody battle years.

and yes, I’ve been taking a bunch of AP classes starting Junior year

What are your ECs. I think those ECs, your recs, and the maturity you display in your essay will be key. What state are you from? With that info we can opine.

MY EC’s are rather crappy. All I have is Tennis, I volunteered on an online anti-depression network called 7cupsoftea for 2 years, and I took a programming course where I kind of leaned C++, Java, Python, and apples seperate code “X code”

And I’m from NYS.

I Think you are competitive at all those places. That being said, RD at Tulane is next to impossible. You have to show extreme interest and assure them that you’ll attend if admitted. The others are all getting more and more competitive as well. I would say you should focus your energy of Stony Brook and Binghamton, especially if money is a a factor. Best of luck to you, and congrats on overcoming adversity and having a great SAT and getting a 4.0 in your júnior and senior years. No small feats. You are going to be fine!
!

Thanks!!! Also, I’m planning on transferring into a better engineering program after my Freshman year, unless I get into Virginia Tech. If I get a 4.0 college GPA,1600 on the SAT I’m going to take at the end of my senior year (so it will look better on transfer apps), and a bunch of EC’s while I’m in my first year of college, do you think transferring to Georgia Tech would be a possibility?

Starting out intending to transfer is always dicey. Georgia Tech is a great school, but will take a transfer only if your performance is stellar your first year elsewhere. If you still have time to apply RD, maybe find another quality engineering program that you wouldn’t mind spending four years at – Worcester Polytechnic Institute, for example. There are others.

Alright. Thanks so much for all your help!
