Problem is, I am an out of state student, I attend a top 100 HS in Rochester, NY.

So is it that much harder for me to get in than the in state kids?

Also, how is the premed program at TAMU?

Finally, I live in NY atm, but my parents are planning to move to Texas in June. So if I pay out of state tuition for the first year, can I pay in state tution starting sophomore year?

Not sure I’m of much help, but I think your parents would need to live in TX for a certain period of time (12months?) and have proof of paying taxes in tx and a property, etc. But I would think that after a year in Texas they would become residents and then you could appeal your status and pay instate.

I’d call and talk to the people at A and M.

Yah I think you should get in they love out of staters and if you can get a 1000 dollar scholarship Texas A&M will waive your out of state tuition

I’m an out of state student and I got accepted…I’m pretty sure you should be fine. you have a lot of volunteer hours and activities and your scores seem good.

nasagirl 14 - They’ll probably use your ACT score, since that looks to be like the higher score.

Ksychic - You have decent chances, and like a few said, they like OOS kids. The pre-med program at TAMU isn’t that great. The organizations are pretty bad (AMSA in particular, Pre-medical is alright). Pre-med classes are just your typical “weedout” courses (BIO 112 was ridiculous with Bohn). Research labs are also pretty hard to get into… Don’t know about the instate/OOS residence.

You have a very good chances of getting into TAMU. For a good pre-med school intexas, consider UT Dallas. University regulations change for in-state requirements. It’s better to directly talk to the admissions officer to get the full details of the residency requirement.
