Hey everyone… so BU is like my dream school and I’m planning on applying their ED. Please chance me and tell me what to do so that my chances of getting in increase

UW GPA: 3.38
APs: AP Lang, AP Econ (Micro and Macro)
Senior Course load: AP Psych, AP Comparative Gov’t, AP Literature, AP Environmental Science (the rest are general classes since we don’t have an honors class system)

SAT: Superscore - 2070/2400

ECs:
-Secretary and President of French Club
-One year of english teaching
-FTC Robotics Competition
-Published 6 articles on school magazine over the course of 2 years
-40 hours community service in Freshman year
-Theatre Club

And an internship over the summer, probably 120 hours.

Gender: Female
Ethnicity: Asian

Major: CS or Political Science and Philosophy at CAS … if that helps to increase my chances.

So is there anything else that I can do to increase my chances? I really want to get into BU ED.

Work on that GPA and aside from that I think you’ll be fine.

Thank you so much for replying.

So if I have to work hard for my GPA, does that mean that instead of applying to ED, I should work on my senior year semester 1 grades and apply regular decision with a higher gpa?

Honestly, you’re better off just applying Early if you want to increase your chances. The only drawback is, if you get in, you can’t back out.

Showing tremendous interest (which is essentially what ED is for) is way more important than improving your GPA with senior grades by just a little bit.

Really focus on the supplement and find SPECIFIC reasons for why BU fits you. Also, visit the campus. The more enthusiastic you sound about BU, the better! And don’t be vague.

I think you have a very good chance! Good luck :)

I’m going to visit the campus for the 2nd time cause I’m so obsessed with BU and I’m hoping to take the SAT again… does internship experience help?

Thanks for replying, zetsumetsu! You’ve relieved even more of my worries.

Internship experience definitely helps, everything helps!

And I’d definitely take the SAT again if I were you, even though 2070 is super high (in my opinion). I got into CAS with only about a 1900 doing Regular Decision, so you’ll probably be fine =) Plus, I’m sure it’s much easier to get in ED.

Of course, BU accepts a lot of overqualified students, so it may seem overwhelming. But they also reject a lot of qualified students because they didn’t show enough interest, so Early Decision definitely gives you an advantage!

Thanks for your response! I feel a lot better and definitely going to work even harder. What’s your major at CAS btw?
