Please chance me as a transfer!

I'm going to apply for sumner/fall 2013 as a transfer. My priority program is Petroleum Engineering and then Geosciences.

I dont know if high school stats matter but I graduated with a 3.3 gpa, not sure about rank.

I have done 60+ college credits at a community college ( Broward College), and currently hold a 3.9 gpa. I've also done volunteer hours and Im a member of Phi Theta Kappa.

I also plan to spend Spring 2013 in Texas Tech University.

As for prerequisites, I've done chem:1,2, calc:1,2(doing 3 at Texas Tech), physics:1,(doing 2 at Texas Tech).

PLEASE REAPOND, I really need some thoughts

Why didn’t you apply for the spring? You would’ve gotten in with a 3.9. Keep up the high GPA and you’ll be fine

@khaled - Engineering applicants have to wait to apply for summer/fall because Cockrell doesn’t accept spring transfers. I’m trying to get into Chemical Engineering, so I have to wait until fall 2013 too.

@Lookbehindyou - I’d say you have a pretty good chance. You’re GPA is high and you completed a lot of the technical coursework. Just be sure to keep it up! Oh and high school grades don’t matter when applying as a transfer. The only high school thing you need to put on your resume is extracurricular activities, awards, volunteer hours, etc. Stuff like that.

@khaled
Thanks!, I will definitely continue working hard.

Thank you for responding. I heard that the Petroleum engineering program at Austin is really hard to get into, so I’m leaving nothing to chance. Would they be hard on me since I’m an out of state student? and also do you know anything about transfer scholarships since I believe you need 1k worth of scholarships in order o pay as an in-state. I don’t think I can afford out of state tuition.

I know it’s somewhat tougher to get in as an out-of-state student, but I think you still have a good shot (international students are a different story though O.O). Having strong essays would boost your chances, so work on that during the break.

Oh, I’m in-state, so I have no idea how tuition for out-of-state students works. But for transfer scholarships for UT, these are the only ones I’m aware of.
